Structure and roles
Holding, legal entity, branch, department, unit, team. Roles: admin, head, member, contractor, auditor.
An organization is a shared memory space for a company: units, people with their own keys, and rules for who sees which records. Knowledge an employee adds while working with agents belongs to the organization and stays there when the person leaves.
On this page you will learn:
Example used throughout this section: Northwind (a legal entity) has an Engineering department with a Backend unit and a Platform team inside. Anna heads Backend, Ben is a member of Backend, and Vera is a contractor hired for two months.
Everyone has one login and one personal space. On top of that, a person can belong to any number of organizations. The “Space” switcher in the account sidebar lets you pick “Personal” or an organization.
| Personal space | Organization | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sees records | Every key of the space sees all of its records | Each person sees only what a record’s visibility allows |
| Keys | Your keys | Each member issues their own key |
| Structure | Projects and workspaces | Unit tree, roles, projects |
| When someone leaves | — | Their knowledge is handed to a chosen recipient |
| Billing | Personal plan | Seats in the organization |
