Claude Desktop

On this page you will connect MMW to the Claude Desktop app, find its configuration file and check that memory works.

  • The remember, search, forget, validate_memory, gateway_call and mmw_sync_status tools in Claude Desktop conversations.
  • The same memory as Claude Code, Cursor and claude.ai with the same key.

Session history is not uploaded for Claude Desktop: the agent uploads Claude Code and Codex sessions only.

  • An MMW API key (starts with mmw_); see the Quickstart.
  • Claude Desktop for macOS or Windows.
  • Python 3.11+ and uv (the uvx command).
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

The easiest way to open the file is from the app itself: Settings → Developer → Edit Config.

  1. Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config.

  2. Add an mmw block to mcpServers. If the file already lists other servers, add mmw next to them without removing anything.

    claude_desktop_config.json
    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "mmw": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["--from", "https://app.mmwhub.tech/downloads/mmw-agent/mmw_agent-0.1.4-py3-none-any.whl", "mmw-agent"],
    "env": {
    "MMW_API_KEY": "mmw_your_key",
    "MMW_ENDPOINT": "https://mcp.mmwhub.tech"
    }
    }
    }
    }
  3. Save the file and fully quit Claude Desktop (from the app menu, not just by closing the window), then start it again.

  1. In a new conversation open the tools menu (the icon below the input box): you should see the mmw server with remember, search, forget, validate_memory, gateway_call and mmw_sync_status.

  2. Ask:

    Remember in MMW: staging is deployed with the systemd unit app-staging. Fact key: deploy-staging.

    Claude may ask for permission to call remember; once approved, it confirms the record was saved.

  3. Open a new conversation and ask:

    How do we deploy staging? Check MMW.

    Expected answer: Claude calls search and replies that staging is deployed with app-staging.

You can check the agent separately from the app with mmw-agent status; see Agent troubleshooting.
